Hey Rick, I have a candle burning for you, its not as bright as your smile when you would walk into a room. We had a lot of laughs, good times and fun working together. I am sure God has a room prepared for you, as He has promised us all that believe in Him. I will miss you greatly and remember I will see you soon.
I love you Rick.

We are devastated by your loss and will miss you greatly. You and Tom were friends from childhood and the best drummer the Blue Ridge Boys ever had but you followed your dream and did well and we were so very proud of you. We will miss our trips to see you and the phone calls we had--you were a kind and gentle person and brightened a room when you walked in-we will miss that smile of yours. Rest in Peace our dear friend and know we love you.

I knew Rick as a youth, my husband John Massey and I knew his Father. I can recall how excited Rick would be when the country bands that played at Richie's Bar would let him sit in and play with them, that was back in the late 60's or early 70's, Rich was so proud. Rick was always a kind and friendly loving person. What a contribution he made to country music in Nashville ... I seen him a few years ago there and he remembered me as always and we had a nice visit. He will be sadly missed by all his many friends....especially me.. My Condolences to all the family.

Rick was a dear friend on and off the bandstand. We built my barn together, wired my house and he scratch built my countertops with me. They will NOT be replaced in my lifetime. He was a craftsman and an extremely kind man. Praying for his family in this loss and looking to see him in Heaven one day.

There are no words than can begin to express what we feel for this Good Man! I will just simply say he was a friend and we loved him. For over 30 years we have shared countless good times on stage, on the golf course, or just talking and laughing together. Rick Vanaugh was certainly a fine drummer and that is well documented by the many many great Recording Artists & Musicians he has worked with during his over 40 year career in Country Music! We are blessed to have been a part of Rick's journey here on Earth. Now he is with Our Father in Heaven and so many other of our friends & loved ones who have gone before us. We will one day be together again my friend. In the meantime, watch over the rest us here who will miss you so much!
God Bless you dear friend
