William "Bill" S. Prejsnar

William S. “Bill” Prejsnar, 76, of Niles and formerly of Cortland, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in the emergency room at Sharon Regional Medical Center in Sharon after suffering cardiac arrest at the Brookfield Diner.

Bill was born on August 7, 1945, in New Castle, Pennsylvania the son of the late Joseph and Mary Cegelka Prejsnar and was a graduate of Union High School.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Bill worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube and other steel mills across the Mahoning Valley.  Bill retired as an electrician for Arcelor Mittal formerly LTV Steel after working in the trade for over 40 years.

Bill was a member and past president of United Steel Workers Local 1375 of Warren; member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 186 of Warren; and member of K Pulaski Club of New Castle.  He enjoyed golfing.

Bill attended St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church in Cortland.

Bill is survived by his wife the former Patricia A. Metzler whom he married on June 22, 2002; a son Mark J. (Cheryl) Prejsnar of Bristow, Virginia; two grandsons Brandon and Alexander Prejsnar; a brother Stephen A. Prejsnar of Poland Township; sisters-in-laws Helen Prejsnar of New Castle, PA and Kathleen Johnson of Warren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers Edward and John Prejsnar.

Family will receive friends on Monday, October 25, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Carl Kish officiating, will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the church.

Entombment will follow with full military honors in Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Bill’s name to either St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, 4659 Niles Cortland Road, Cortland, Ohio 44410 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
