NILES – William L. Dechert, age 89, lifelong area resident, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 27, 2020 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born June 17, 1931 in Cortland, the son of Clifford and Hazel (Lewis) Dechert.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Bill served his county honorably as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He retired from Republic Steel after thirty-plus years of employment. He was once a member of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing.
Precious memories of Bill live on with his devoted wife of sixty-four years, Wanda “Jean” (Lewis) Dechert, whom he married August 4, 1956; two children, Michael L. Dechert of Youngstown and Deanna Dechert of Youngstown; one grandson, Timothy Sheldon; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Clifford and Hazel Dechert; five sisters; and one brother.
Services are 11:00 am Friday, July 31, 2020 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion. Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home.
