NILES – Thomas “Bruce” B. Gavin, age 69, lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at home. He was born May 5, 1954 in Ohio, the son of Thomas and Udyvie (Williams) Gavin.
Bruce was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, where he played basketball and earned a college scholarship. He worked in the steel mills and enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, Steelers football, basketball, and being with his friends.
Fond memories of Bruce live on with his two nephews, Christopher Pettis (Felicia) of Denver, Colo. and Eric Pettis of Warren; his niece, Angela Pettis of Warren; his cousins: Ricky Barnnett (Rochelle) of Howland, James Gavin of Akron, Troy Gavin of Denver, Colo., Gregory Gavin of Atlanta, Ga., and Tonya Gavin of Warren; and his many friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents and his sister, Teresa Pettis.
According to his wishes, cremation is taking place. No services are scheduled at this time.
