Stanley “Bruce” Hartz, 84, passed away peacefully at 2:40 June 18th, 2021 at University Hospital’s Cleveland Medical Center.
He was born July 17, 1936 in Andover, Ohio the son of Carl L. Sr. and Florance Waltz Hartz, and was a life-long area resident.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Bruce was a member of the American Legion Post 126. He was a member of the Carol F. Clapp Free and Accepted Masons Lodge and was also active with the Aut Mori Grotto. Bruce was also an avid supporter and volunteer for Mobile Meals for many years.
Bruce was retired from electricians Local 553. Memories of Bruce will live on in his wife the former Edyth A. Litwiler, whom he married on January 9, 1954, a son Sidney (Jamie) B. Hartz of Newton Falls, a daughter Kathy (John) Keeler of Leavittsburg, a brother Melvin J. Hartz of Leetonia, a sister Marlene Beck of Florida; grandchildren Lark (Jason) Bagge of Florida, Marybeth (John) Kennedy of Aurora, Ohio, Jason (Jessica) Hartz of Lordstown, Matthew Hartz of Newton Falls, three great grandchildren, Shyane Hartz, and Claire and Lily Kennedy.
Bruce enjoyed many years as a member of the Cortland Conservation Club. He had fond memories of sailing, picnics, and friendships. While his health still permitted, he loved to travel with his wife ‘Edie’ and their family dog. He will be most remembered by his wife and children as a generous, loving husband and father. He will be missed every day and thought of every time a sailboat crosses Mosquito Lake.
Besides his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by a son Scott Landis Hartz and a brother Carl L. Hartz Jr.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
