Stanley M. Sedgwick

NILES – Stanley M. Sedgwick, age 74, lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at home. He was born November 23, 1948 in Youngstown, the son of Zane Aaron and Lenora Edith (Thornsberry) Sedgwick.

Stan served in the U.S Army from 1967 to 1970, stationed in South Korea on a Korean DMZ tour.  He worked as an auto mechanic, and after retiring due to declining health, he continued to fix anything that anyone needed.  He enjoyed old Westerns, playing his guitar, and tinkering with electronics and anything mechanical.

Precious memories of Stan live on with his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Rose (Jarman) Sedgwick, whom he married May 13, 1970; two daughters, Annette E. Williams (Brian) of Cortland and Christine D. Days (Ulysses) of Middletown, Ohio; two grandsons, Timothy C. Williams of Cortland and Ryan J. Williams (Natalie) of Cortland; two great-grandchildren, Amanda R. Williams and Oliver M. Williams; three sisters, Delinda L. Hixon of Ridgeville, S.C., Carma L. Hixon of New Port Richey, Fla., and Wanda L. Totherow of Summerville, S.C.; four brothers: Timothy J. of Summerville, S.C., Randall K. of Appalachia, Va., Zane A. of Summerville S.C., and Jesse A. Sedgwick of Summerville, S.C.

Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister, Edith L. Hunt.

Calling hours are 11:00 am to 12:00 noon Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park.
