Silas "Bill" W. Jones

WARREN – Silas “Bill” W. Jones, age 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his home, with his family at his side.  He was born September 18, 1939 in Marietta, Ohio, the son of Everett “Clarence” and Dulcie (Drake) Jones and had lived in the Warren area since the 1960s.

Bill worked twenty-five years for ITT Grinnell before retiring.  An avid outdoorsman, he liked fishing, hunting, and tinkering on cars and lawnmowers.  He enjoyed his time with his daughters and was always involved with his grandchildren.  He was a big Steelers fan, and loved to bake with Shirley for family get-togethers.

He is sadly missed by his two daughters, Sonya A. Jones and Shelley L. Thompson (Roy), both of Champion; three grandchildren: Brandon Tharp (Hannah), Emily Tharp, and Joshua Thompson; and nieces, nephews and their families who remember him fondly.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Clarence and Dulcie Jones; his beautiful wife of fifty-five years, Shirley June (Painter) Jones, whom he married March 19, 1965 and who passed June 3, 2020; and three brothers: Ernest E., Rex R., and Clarence “Jim” Jones.

Services are 7:00 pm Monday, February 22, 2021 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with Pastor Joseph Walker, Jr. officiating.  Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.  Masks are required, and social distancing practices will be observed.
