HOWLAND – Sharon L. Hayes, age 73, lifelong area resident, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Akron General Hospital. She was born February 6, 1947 in Warren, the daughter of Donald and Arlene (Wilson) Ray.
A 1965 graduate of Champion High School, Sharon was one of the first woman welders at ITT-Grinnell. Later, she worked seventeen years for Packard and Delphi Electric. A generous soul who supported many charities, she was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and loved her many rescue dogs.
Precious memories of Sharon live on with her three children: Kimberly Giesey (Donald) of Champion, Ronald Thomas (Laurie) of Bolivar, and Jill Bahr (Todd) of Stow; eight grandchildren; one sister, Marcy Durst (Clay) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and one brother, Jeff Ray (Cheryl) of Champion.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Donald and Arlene Ray; her husband, Leslie Hayes, who passed in March, 1998; and one brother, Redge Ray.
Services are private. Per her request, cremation is taking place.
