Roger D Rice

Roger D. Rice, 59, of Cortland, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 1:10 a.m. in the emergency room of Trumbull Regional Medical Center after becoming stricken at home.

He was born Tuesday, August 8, 1961 in Warren the son of the late Richard E. and Bernice J. Stowell Rice and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1980 graduate of Maplewood High School, Roger worked in the construction trade.

An avid golfer, Roger enjoyed gardening and watching a good movie.  Most of all, Roger enjoyed going to his companion’s camp in Tidioute, Pennsylvania.  He also enjoyed spending time with his two special girls Graci and Emmalyn

Fond memories of Roger will forever be remembered by his longtime companion Brenda L. Henretty, his sister Norma Martin all of Cortland; his nephew Jacob Sopkovich of New Castle and his niece Tricia Adams of Youngstown and by a host of friends.

Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a sister Teresa Holmes; a brother Richard A. Rice; his brother-in-law Richard U. Martin; and two nephews Craig Sopkovich and Joshua Holmes.

A Celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, October 18, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Maffett  Meadows 2970 Hoagland-Blackstub Road, Cortland, Ohio 44410.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Roger’s name to be directed to the family to help with final expenses.
