Robert A. Parkhurst, 54, of Newton Falls, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 25, 2021 at 10:53a.m. in his home as a result of injuries sustained in a fall in his basement.
Rob was born Thursday, June 23, 1966 in Warren the son of Don Parkhurst and Charlotte Crew Finney and was a lifelong area resident.
Rob graduated in 1984 from Lakeview High School and TCTC with a degree in Graphic Printing.
He started his career in printing as a pressman at Nestle’s Print Graphics in Solon, Ohio. He was promoted to plant supervisor in 1986 and remained in management until he retired from the printing industry in 2012.
Rob had a saw sharpening business which he inherited from his late grandfather, Frank Crew, who owned Crew Sharpening in Howland Township, Ohio.
Rob was truly the jack-of-all-trades. He was a certified Home Inspector and a licensed health and life insurance agent. He was an accomplished carpenter and was often called upon from family, friends and people in the community to work on various home improvement projects.
From 2019 and up to the time of his passing, he and his son Robert Jr. jointly owned Powerhouse Mowing and Landscape.
A true outdoorsman, Rob loved hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved collecting guns and target shooting. A skill and hobby passed on to him from his dad, Don Parkhurst.
His faith in Christ never wavered. He and Patty had attended services at Warren First Assembly of God, in Warren.
He will be sadly missed by all of those who loved and cherished him especially Patty, the love of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years the former Patricia “Patty” Cline whom he married on December 10, 1994; his father Don (Barbara) Parkhurst of Warren; his mother Charlotte Crew (Will) Finney of Cortland; four children Robert “Rob” A. Parkhurst Jr. of Newton Falls, Nicole (Jake) Rodman of Newton Falls; David (Heather) Parkhurst of Irving, California and Brandon Salen of Warren; his siblings Michelle Ascano of Warren, Laurie (Terry) Newton of Champion and Dan (Angie) Parkhurst of Mantua and grandchildren Kenleigh, Kyler, Jace, Xander, Athena and Ayla. He is also survived by six stepbrothers and step sisters.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Warren First Assembly of God Church. A memorial service to honor Rob’s life will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the church. A mercy meal will follow in the fellowship hall.
