GREENVILLE, PA. – Richard N. Bernier, age 89, formerly a forty-year resident of Cortland, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 31, 2020 at St. Paul Senior Living Community. He was born May 4, 1931 in Boston, Mass., the son of Nelson E. and Ruth Blair Verity Bernier.
Richard graduated from the University of Alabama and served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He retired as Manager of Sales and Engineering for Peerless-Winsmith after twenty years of employment. He was a member of Cortland Church of the Nazarene in Cortland.
He leaves his loving wife of nearly sixty-six years, Joan (Gray) Bernier, whom he married March 5, 1955; three sons: Stephen N. Bernier (Karen) of Farmville, Va., David R. Bernier (Carmen) of Fairborn, Ohio, and Philip L. Bernier (Bonita) of Middlefield, Ohio; one daughter, Jennifer A. Scales (Eric) of Greenville, Pa., nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Cooper of Westmont, N.J.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Nelson and Ruth Bernier.
Per his request, cremation is taking place. No services or calling hours are being held at this time.
