MCDONALD – Raymond E. Lewis, age 80, lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Continuing Health Care in Mineral Ridge. He was born December 3, 1939 in Youngstown, the son of Frederick and Myrtle (Briggs) Lewis.
A graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Ray worked as the parts manager at Westgate Ford. An active member of his community, he was of the Methodist faith, coached baseball in McDonald, and belonged to the McDonald Fire Department, where he had served as Chief. He was a licensed pilot who loved to fly. He enjoyed classic cars and car shows, woodworking, his trips to Geneva-on-the-Lake, and watching his children and grandchildren at sporting events.
Precious memories of Ray live on with his loving wife of nearly fifty-seven years, Mary Jane (Cox) Lewis, whom he married September 12, 1963; one son, John Lewis (Jill) of McDonald; one daughter, Theresa (Matthew) Hull of McDonald; four grandchildren: Amanda and Joshua Hull, Morgan and Brooke Lewis; and one sister, Charlotte Leonard (Paul) of Austintown.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Frederick Lewis and Myrtle Burdick, and four brothers: Frederick, Merle, Donald, and Robert Lewis.
Services are private. Cremation is taking place. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the McDonald Fire Department, 451 Ohio Avenue, McDonald, Ohio 44437.
