Pauline "Polly Jo" Lesh Obituary

Pauline J. Lesh, 83, of Champion, entered peacefully into eternal life with her family at her side on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:11 p.m. at O’Brien Memorial Health Care Center in Masury under the comforting care of hospice.

Affectionately known as “Polly Jo or Polly” by her family and friends, she was born October 10, 1938 in Warren, the daughter of the late Albert and Pauline Martorana Sabau and was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Warren.

Polly Jo was a devout Catholic and a member of St. William Catholic Church in Champion.

Pauline retired as a histologist with Trumbull Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Health Care Center. 

She was a member Youngstown Cursillo Club and was an Associate of Sisters of Notre Dame.  She enjoyed sewing, doing ceramics, baking and cooking and she traveled the World from here to Guam and back.  Polly had a fondness for collecting cook books and enjoyed shopping on QVC no matter the cost.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren. 

She was married on January 3, 1959 to Donald Elwood Lesh and they were married for 62 years until his passing exactly one year from her on January 8, 2021.

Fond memories of Pauline will forever be remembered by her children Daniel (Maxine Fugate) Lesh of Middlefield, Donald E. (Elizabeth) Lesh of San Francisco, CA, Albert Lesh of Hull, Mass, Tim Lesh of Arizona, and Melissa DeJacimo of Champion Twp,; by twelve grandchildren Jessica Quiroz, Daniel Lesh, Amber Mooney, Benjamin Lesh, Gina Kassander, Hannah Lesh, Julie Lesh, Ryan Lesh, Natalie Lesh, Chrystyna Lesh, Heather Lesh, and Ashley Bowker; and by numerous great grandchildren.  Polly Jo is also survived by her siblings Mary E. Dunaway of Hubbard, Sr. Judith Ann Sabau, SND of Chardon, Diane (Dennis) Durno of Champion, Albert “Butch” (Cathy) Sabau of Bristol, Mark D. (Lolly) Sabau of Aurora, and Rosalie Mohr of Branson, MO; and by a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by a son David T. Lesh.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. in the Vestibule of St. William Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 in the church with Father Michael D. Balash as celebrant.

Burial will take place at Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Polly’s name to St. William Catholic Church, 5411 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, Ohio 44483.
