Nancy Kramer Sernulka, 89, of Cortland, entered peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 2:30 a.m. in the comfort of her own home.
She was born Sunday, March 8, 1931 in Youngstown the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Homsey Kramer and was a lifelong area resident.
Nancy was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and retired after 29 years from GE Ohio Lamp.
She was a faithful member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren.
Nancy enjoyed dancing, keeping up her home, exercising and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was married on July 15, 1951 to Peter Sernulka and they were married for 24 years until his untimely passing on November 5, 1975. Together they shared the love of two children John Joseph Sernulka and Shirley Wade. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rachel (Anthony) Joseph, Amanda (Denise) Sernulka George, Lisa (Joshua) Click, Allison (Craig) McCann, and Travis (Bri) Sernulka; and by eight great grandchildren Carley Click, Veronika Joseph, Eythan Sernulka George, Khloe Click, Addyson Sernulka George, Noah Joseph, Brielle Joseph and Rae Sernulka; as well has numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph and Frank Kramer and seven sisters Ann Bistarkey, Mary Evans, Elsie Antonoff, Helen Hritz, Judy Pavis, Betty Sylvester and Lucy Uhlar.
Calling hours will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021, with Fr. Simeon B. Sibenik officiating, in SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.
Burial will follow next to her husband in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Nancy’s name to Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside Road Suite 270, Valley View, Ohio 44125.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt and warm thank you to Nancy’s care givers and nieces Joanne Gnat, Mary Theresa Sernulka and Darlene Pohland for all their love and care.
The family, funeral home and church will all be practicing social distancing and proper health protocols. Due to the continued and increasing spread of Covid-19, the 6-foot social distancing rule will be honored, and all guests, must wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that all visitors exit the funeral home after paying their respects to the family. Please do not linger.
