Mickey L. Cross, 84, of Champion and formerly of Cortland, passed away at 2:12 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019 in the emergency room of Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
He was born May 7, 1934 in Arden, West Virginia the son of the late Olice O. and Gertrude Gall Cross and came to Warren in 1953.
A 1952 graduate of Phillip West Virginia High School, Mickey worked for Packard Electric as a tow motor operator.
He was a Free and Accepted Mason with the Cortland Masonic Lodge 529 where he was Past Master; member of the Scottish Rite in Youngstown, Al Koran Shrine, Trumbull Shrine and Cortland Moose Lodge 1012.
Mickey was an avid golfer and a member for 42 years of the Packard Maintenance Golf League and the Thursday Night Men’s League at Bronzewood for many years.
He is survived by his wife the former Katherine C. Clappner whom he married on October 23, 1965 and a brother Gene Cross of Eau Claire, Pennsylvania.
Besides his parents, Mickey was preceded in death bv six brothers and two sisters.
Calling Hours will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home where the members of the Cortland Masonic Lodge 529 will hold a service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Baptist Church 2576 McCleary Jacoby Road, Cortland, OH 44410 with burial to follow in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mickey’s name to either Trinity Baptist Church or Shriners Hospital for Children 3229 Burnet Ave Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
