May B. Hicks

NEWTON FALLS – May B. Hicks, age 90, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 15, 2023 at Hospice House in Poland.  May was born May 17, 1933 in Homestead, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Michael and Anne (Cejkovski) Bindus.

A highly respected educator, May taught in the Newton Falls schools for many years.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching Westerns (loudly) and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is sadly missed by her son-in-law, Philip Elliott, Jr. (Carole) of Newton Falls; two grandchildren, Philip Elliott III and Meredith Inman (Shawn); two great-grandchildren, Addison and Savannah Reho; two sisters, Michaele Martinez (Joe) and Sharon Barclay, both of Allen Park, Mich.; and two brothers, Ernest Bindus of Allen Park and Michael Bindus of Detroit, Mich.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Robert P. Hicks, whom she married November 7, 1951 and who passed February 22, 2007, her son, David Hicks; her daughter, Arlene Elliott; and one brother, Raymond Bindus.

Graveside services for May will be held privately at Newton Falls Cemetery, where she will be interred next to her husband.
