Marion Z. Ruminski, 74, of Howland Township, entered peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
He was born January 7, 1947, in Hohenfels, Germany the son of the late Marion and Josephine Kosinski Ruminiski.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, Marion served his country abroad during the Vietnam War. For his service to his country, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, RVN Campaign Medal with device and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was awarded an honorable discharge from the United States Naval Reserve on October 4, 1971.
Marion worked as a car repairman on the CSX railroad retiring after 40 years of honorable service.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3538 of Struthers, the Disabled American Veterans Trumbull County Chapter #11. Marion enjoyed participating and speaking at veteran’s programs at several area schools.
He enjoyed shooting pool, playing the lottery, speaking Polish, his native language, and he enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends about living in the old country.
Marion is survived by his wife Lorraine L. Ostrander, whom he married on July 28, 1990; his children Heather (Keith) Lloyd of Johnston Township, Heidi (fiancé Matt) Ruminski of Williamsfield, OH, and Tammy Happney of Warren; his stepdaughter Cindy Audia of Warren; his siblings Maryann (Reed) May of Hubbard, Donna Canter of Poland, Victor (Joyce) Ruminski of Hubbard, Jerry (Vicki) Ruminski of Hubbard, Frank (Christine) Ruminski of New Middletown, and Bill (Terri) Ruminski of McDonald; by ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Marion was preceded in death by two sisters Rita Mrosko and Angie O’Neil.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion.
