Lorene M (Reigle) Church

Lorene Church, a fervently devoted woman of faith and a giving soul whose paramount passion was to toil tirelessly on behalf of her loving family, gave her last full measure to this world on April 16, 2021 and slipped away to her richly deserved Heavenly reward following months of declining health.

From the very start, 81 long and fruitful years ago, Lorene was a simple, hard-working lady for whom all the complexities of life could be reduced to one simple question: “how can I help?”. She was as eager to volunteer as she was to laugh, bringing joy to everyone who was fortunate enough to share her life.

The dearly departed faithfully attended Niles Christian Assembly, which was essentially her family church – founded by her grandmother, who became a guiding light during Lorene’s adolescence; and pastored by her uncle, who provided the spiritual roadmap for her lifelong Christian journey. There she participated in the Women’s Dorcas Fellowship and was deeply involved in the various church activities, offering up her numerous, finely-honed skills – cooking, cleaning, caring for children in the nursery and teaching Sunday School – to any and all of her fellow worshipers who found themselves in need. Always humbly, dutifully and generously, without hesitation or compensation.

Lorene leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Kimberly O’Connell of Niles, Ohio; one son, David (Janet) Church of Arlington, Texas; three granddaughters, Stephanie (Dan) Vanderburg, Gabriell Church and Jada Church; as well as one great-grandson, Zachary Vanderburg.

Lorene Church will forever be remembered as a strong and integral pillar supporting her vast family – both immediate and extended – for whom she sacrificed so much and devoted herself so completely. To her, nothing in this world could compare to the love, laughter and joy that she experienced at family gatherings. She also took immense pleasure indulging her life-long love of cooking, baking and attending gospel concerts.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, April 30th at 5:00 p.m. at Niles Christian Assembly, 672 North Road, Niles, Ohio.

The family requests that donations be made to the Niles Christian Assembly Memorial Fund in Lorene’s name.
