Karen P. Russell, 78, of Champion and formerly of Girard, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 8:07 p.m. in Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
She was born Thursday, August 6, 1942 in Big Isaac, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Stephen Stutler and Marjorie “Fern” Sutton Clower.
Karen was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School and was a homemaker.
She was a longtime member of Evansville Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir. Karen enjoyed making cakes and blankets. She also enjoyed crocheting and most importantly spending time with her family.
She was married to Robert L. Russell on August 10, 1963 and they were married for 43 years until his passing on December 20, 2006. Together they shared the love of four children Robert (Lisa) Russell of Niles, Michelle (Jamie) Spitler of Cortland, Michael (Oksana) Russell of Austintown and Nicole (Jason) Barber, with whom she made her home in Champion; and sixteen grandchildren Jason, Stephanie, David, Zach (Arielle), Trevor (Shelby), Daniel, Rachel, Jennifer, Mikayla, Jacob, Gabrielle, Caleb, Titus, Theo, Nathan and Andrew. Karen is also survived by a sister Cathy (David) Loomis of Niles and a brother William Clower of Niles.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Evansville Baptist Church, 1585 Ohltown McDonald Road, Niles, Ohio 44446.
A Funeral Service, with Pastor Myron Daum officiating, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the church. Burial will follow in Niles City Cemetery.
The family, funeral home and church will be practicing social distancing and proper health care protocols. Due to the continued and increasing spread of Covid-19, the 6-foot social distancing rule will be honored, and all guests, must wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that all visitors exit the church (if not staying for the service) after paying their respects to the family. Please do not linger.
