John R. Spain, Jr.

BAZETTA - John R. Spain Jr., born September 4, 1951, passed away April 1, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Betty June Wells Spain and Father, Atty. John R. Spain Sr. 

John was the beloved husband of  Susan Harris Spain, who he married on October 9, 2003.  Loving father to  John R. Spain III (Abbey), Joseph A. Spain, Lindsay M. Spain, and cherished step-father to Missy Sferra Hays (Kelly) and D.J. Sferra (Jennifer). Proud Papa to Alex, Darby, Kourtney, and Kaylee Spain and Gigi and Laisi Sferra.  He was the adored brother to twin sister Pamela Spain Rable and his niece Amanda Shattuck (Joel) and Nephew, Ricky Rable (Sarah).  He also leaves behind his Mother-in-law, Nina Harris, and brother-in-law David Harris, both of Sun City Center, FL. Brother-in-law to Melissa Harris (John Flower), of Aurora, OH. He also leaves his hunting and fishing buddies, Mike and Joana Dittmer who were like family to him.  

John graduated Howland High School in 1969 and began his government career as bailiff for Judge John De Pietro of the Trumbull County Domestic Court and spent most of his career as an Administrative Officer with The Trumbull County Child Support Enforcement Agency.  John's greatest joy were his children and grandchildren. Over the years, he faithfully attended his children's sporting events, celebrating their triumphs, and sharing with them, the love of the game, be it softball, baseball, rugby, diving, football, or golf. 

John was also a dyed-in-the-wool fan of the great Cleveland Tri-fecta: Indians, Cavaliers and Browns. In youth, always active, and as age caught up with him, he continued to appreciate the great outdoors, and enjoyed all that nature had to offer. His passion for deer hunting, boating and fishing on the Big Lake (Erie) is legend to those who love him, and it is this past time that we will remember best about John.

His generosity with his family and friends, sharing those delightful boat rides, and all smiles as he helped another hook a fish. These are the memories we will carry of John at his best.

Visitation is Friday, April 6, 2018 at The Staton-Borowski Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 pm with a service immediately following at 6:00 pm.
