Joanne R Barrow

Joanne Raye Barrow, 78, of Warren, entered into eternal rest at 9:39 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 surrounded by her family and in the comforting care of hospice.

She was born in Warren on August 19, 1942 the daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn Marie Phillips.

Joanne remained a life-long resident of the area and retired from her duties as a press operator, at Johnson Rubber.  She graduated from Howland High School, Class of 1961.

BINGO! Joanne was a very active in the local Bingo community.  Her family recalls the fun car rides to play Bingo at Candlelight Knoll, Mt. Carmel, and to Newton Falls.  Joanne’s family and Bingo buddy, Miss. Linda, enjoyed trying their luck at Mountaineer Racetrack and Casino in WV, Hollywood Racetrack and Casino in Austintown, and the iconic casinos of the Las Vegas strip.  Joanne had luck and could talk a mean streak.  In fact, she shared her outgoing and sometimes sassy personality with all she encountered.  It is said that she would run into people she knew, all over the country.

Joanne loved hummingbirds and kept a pet canary named ‘Mojo.’ She loved Mojo, even though he was ‘ugly,’ ornery and liked to sing songs. Her daughter and grand kids will miss the long hours in the car, traveling to visit her sister Dottie, in Kentucky. Joanne loved to travel.  She enjoyed the time with family and to stop every 15 minutes to sight see.

Joanne is survived by her daughter Michele (Timothy ‘Bo’) Oswald of Warren; sister Dottie Hardwick of Kentucky; grandchildren and great grandchildren Timothy (Samantha) Oswald, Kiley, Cayden, Paisley, and Zander of Texas; Kaitlyn Oswald (Tyler Bishop) Jayden and Kaysen of Warren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Richard Phillips and Nancy Tackett.  A funeral service will be held on Monday June 28th, 2021 beginning at 6:00pm.  Friends and Family may call one hour before.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of The Valley.
