James Hansel Obituary

FARMDALE – James J. Hansel, “Hippie Jim,”age 81, lifelong area resident, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 19, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born July 30, 1942 in Warren, the son of John J. and Helen L. (Lachowski) Hansel.

A 1960 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Jim retired from General Motors as a millwright.  He continued to work for his son at Ainsley Heating and Cooling until very recently.  He was an all-around handyman who could fix or build anything.  A lover of the outdoors, he had been an avid fisherman since he was three, and he knew Mosquito Lake better than anyone else.

Precious memories of Jim live on with his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Judith L. (Fullerton) Hansel, whom he married May 12, 1972; three children: Lynne Neff (David) of Cortland, Thomas Walden (Amber) of Cortland, and Carri Davis of Champion; seven grandchildren: Hannah Davis, Kaitlyn Davis, Cameron Walden, Jenna Walden, Tyler Neff (Michelle), Alex Neff, and Logan Neff; two sisters, Joyce Brutz of Warren and Janice Bates (Raymond) of Newton Falls; one brother, Jerome Hansel (Pat) of Champion; his nieces, nephews, and their families; and his four-legged BFF, Maggie.

Preceding him in death are his parents; one sister, Joan Termine; and one brother, John V. Hansel.
