Harold "Bruce" E. Young

CHAMPION TOWNSHIP – Harold “Bruce” E. Young, 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

He was born in Rossiter, Pa. on December 16, 1941 and served in the United States Air Force, where he met his wife, Peggy J. (Wright) Young.  They were happily married for fifty-six years.

He is also sadly missed by his four daughters: Irene Hoover (Bruce Skubish) of Brookfield, Tammy Young of Mecca, Sheila Duncan (Tony) of Southington, and Pam Young of Champion; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Crecia Huey and Dora Hudak, both of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.  He is also missed by his beloved friends and neighbors, Jim and Lynne Slaughter.

Bruce was a graduate of Marion Center High School in Pennsylvania.  Following his active duty in the Air Force, he worked as a machinist at American Welding for twenty-nine and a half years. He also worked for Kraftmaid Cabinetry for ten years until he retired in 2012.

Bruce enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, spending time with his family, passing down his wisdom to each generation.  He was the “go-to” man for everyone, but it was his way or the highway.  He will be very much missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, William and Blanche (Roush) Young; seven brothers; and one sister.

There will be no services, as to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Shriners Hospital or St. Jude’s Hospital.
