Gregory Capito Obituary
Gregory Capito, 93, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10:20 p.m. at Ohio Living Lake Vista in Cortland.
He was born Thursday, January 27, 1927 in Warren the son of the late Lawrence and Susan Frasca Capito and was a lifelong area resident graduating from Warren G. Harding High School.
A Veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Gregory served his country abroad a troop transport carrier and served as a water tender. He was honorably discharged on May 6, 1946.
Mr. Capito retired from Copperweld Steel in Champion where he worked in the Conditioning Department as a Magnaglow Operator.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Warren. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 620 and enjoyed gardening, loved to tinker with things around the house, enjoyed cooking and most importantly spending time with his family.
Mr. Capito is survived by his daughter Deborah (George) Paully of Howland; a granddaughter Atty. Alanna (Ian Malhoit) Paully; great grandson Sullivan Malhoit and his dog Bella.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death on July 2, 2011 by his wife of 58 years the former Helen K. Lawrence whom he married on July 19, 1952; and by two brothers Frank and William Capito and by two sisters Mary Horsfall and Josephine O’Loughlin.
There were no calling hours. A Funeral Service, with Deacon Edward Kleese officiating, was held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Entombment has taken place in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
