Gerald "Jerry" Zeronas Obituary

TRANSFER, PA. - Gerald Albert “Jerry” Zeronas died September 14, 2020 in the comfort of his home after a hard-fought fight battling cancer. Gerald was born September 30, 1957, the son of Albert Zeronas and Louise (Greenawalt) Zeronas.

Gerald met the love of his life, Catherine (Raiti) Zeronas whom he married May 6, 1975. She survives at her home in Transfer. They have two daughters, Jennifer Wansack (husband Keith) and Joanie Zeronas (companion Brad Rowe).

Gerald loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves behind four granddaughters and a grandson, Megan Davis (husband Tommy), Allison Surrena (companion Mackenzie Young), Jacob Surrena (companion Renee Fletcher), Kyleigh Wansack and Kendall Wansack, along with two greatgrandchildren, Logan Davis and Laken Davis.

He also leaves behind brother Richard Zeronas (wife Linda) of Transfer, sister Linda Halt (husband George) of Transfer and twin brother Gary Zeronas of Sharpsville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Louise Zeronas, and one nephew, David Zeronas.

Family was the most important part of Gerald’s life. Not only did he enjoy spending time with his children and grandchildren, he also loved spending time with his seven nieces and nephews and their families.

Gerald attended Reynolds Jr. Sr. High School and attended Mercer County Career Center for Building Trades. Following his time at Reynolds, Gerald worked at Malleable, Damascus Tube, Daffin’s Candies and Joshen where he built many friendships that he cherished. Gerald also did taxidermy for many years which gave him the opportunity to share his artistic ability.

The love for outdoors led him to be a bear guide in Canada for three years. He shared his enjoyment for hunting, fishing and trapping with family and friends.

Gerald’s sense of humor, humble attitude and overall loving personality will be missed. His family knows the loss is immeasurable and will continue to cherish memories and the love left behind.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
