Gail Charles Byers

TWINSBURG – Gail Charles Byers, age 86, lifelong Trumbull County resident, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 20, 2020 at Canterbury of Twinsburg.  He was born February 20, 1934 in Warren, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Lonsway) Byers and his stepmother, Mary Ruth Byers.

A graduate of Howland High School, Gail served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. A devout Catholic, he was an active member of St. William Catholic Church. He retired from Copperweld Steel after thirty-two years as a millwright.  A championship pool player, he also enjoyed swimming, gardening, and landscaping.

Precious memories of Gail live on with his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Shirley (Fender) Byers, whom he married June 12, 1955; six children: Deborah A. Lamson (Martin) of Bar Harbor, Maine, Lawrence M. Byers (Terri) of Columbus, Mark A. Byers (Robin) of Lodi, Charles J. Byers (Susan) of Columbus, Ind., Mary Jo Byers of Northfield, and John P. Byers (Sharon) of San Marcos, Calif.; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;one brother, Wiley Byers of Howland; one stepbrother, Patrick Quinn of Warren; and one stepsister, Mary Quinn of Richmond Heights.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Dorothy Byers; his stepmother, Mary Ruth Byers; one sister, Marianne Gross; and one stepsister, Bonnie Quinn.
