Frances Sliver Obituary

Frances L. Sliver, 89, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 11:15 p.m. in the comfort of her home under the care of hospice.

She was born February 3, 1932 in Sharon, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Mathias and Marjorie Bates Swartz.

Frances attended St. Joseph Elementary Catholic School in Sharon where she graduated from Junior High in 1946.  She attended Hickory High School in Hermitage graduating in 1950. 

Frances worked for Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren in the X-ray Department as a transporter. 

She was a longtime member of the former Christ Our King Catholic Church in Warren where she was cantor and sang in the church choir.  Upon the closing of Christ Our King Catholic Church, Frances became a member of St. John Paul II Parish on North Street in Warren.  She was actively involved in the parishes she belonged to as cantor, singing in the choir, was a lector, Eucharistic Minister to the homebound. 

Frances was involved in her community by singing in the Interdenominational “Messiah” Choir for seven years.  She served with the Pastoral Care Unit at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for nine years and was a member of the Sierra Club of Trumbull County promoting vocations to the priest hood and religious life.  Frances was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 13 of Warren.

She is survived by her eight children, Lawrence A. Frank of Picayune, Miss, Donna Limbeck of South Bend, ID, William Frank, with whom she made her home in Warren, Tina (Andrew) Petsakos of Warren, Lynda Rodriguez of Miami, Fl, Rose (Steven) Carter of Lawrenceville, GA, Mary (Brad) Black of Warren, and Julie (Rusty) Brown of Riverdale, GA; by a brother James (Bernadette) Swartz of Cortland; by thirty-five grandchildren, sixty-seven great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her first husband William Frank whom she married on October 28, 1950; her second husband Joseph Jessup whom she married on June 24, 1971; her third husband Michael Sliver whom she married on December 9, 1995 and he preceded her in death on January 14, 2004; a daughter Susan Frank; sister Doris Ohl; and brother Robert Swartz.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 in the church with Fr. Frantisek Katrinak officiating.  Burial will follow next to her first husband William in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Frances’ name to either St. Mary’s Church, 232 Seneca St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44481 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary’s Church.
