Elberta Irene Scott

Elberta Irene (Bullman) Scott age 100 passed away on April 20, 2021 at the Hospice House in Poland Ohio

Elberta was born in Niagara Falls, New York on March 8 1921 To James Sutton and Irene Dell Hubbard Bullman.

They moved to Youngstown, Ohio in 1930.

Elberta had 6 brothers, Joseph (Opal), James Cecil (Edna), Karl, Blair, Kenneth, Eugene (Alma), and two sisters, Maudetta (Max) Schultz, Hannah Lucille (James) Doyle.  Elberta graduated from South High school in 1939 then attended Youngstown College in the evenings. In 1982 Elberta joined the South High school Alumni association. She worked on the yearly reunion dinners and was a past president and treasurer for over 20 years.

Elberta was married in 1944 and had one daughter, Suzanne Colleen born in 1945.

Elberta worked for over 30 years for the Youngstown Sheet and Tube in accounting. She retired when the office closed in 1979. Elberta continued to work for Burkland flowers and at Nurse Care Home Health Services until she was 77.

Elberta enjoyed a variety of interests including bowling, reading and sewing, She was an avid lover of golf and played on multiple leagues, playing her last game at the age of 94. Elberta was a life member of Miriam Chapter # 278 Order of the Eastern Star and held multiple offices including Worthy Matron and Treasurer of 20 years. Elberta was also a 70 year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was a member for Wicklife Christian Church until it closed then attended The First Christian Church of Girard and Jubilee Christian Fellowship in Canfield.

Elberta lost her only daughter Suzanne Colleen Gurlea to cancer on 4/20/19. She is survived by her son in law Daniel Gurlea, two grandchildren John (Sherry) Tetlow, James (Joivonna) Tetlow and two Great Grandchildren Joseph (Sarah) Tetlow and Nicole Tetlow. A funeral service will be held at 3PM on April 25, 2021 at the funeral home. Friends may call one hour prior the time of the service. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman, OH at 12 Noon April 26, 2021.
