On Saturday, October 28, 2023 Edith June Bagaglia Rice, 87, passed away at home with her loving family by her side.
Born June 3, 1936 on Second Street in Warren, Ohio to Frank and Mary DeMarco Bagaglia.
Edith attended First Street School, then to West Jr. and graduated from Warren G. Harding in the June class of 1954. During her senior year began working at the Daniels and Robins Theatre where she met the love of her life, Bob Rice. Edie and Bob married January 18,1958 at Christ Our King Church and began their legacy and welcomed three children, Bobby Jr., Mary and Gina.
After graduation she worked at the Tribune Chronicle for ten years stopping to raise the children. Returning to work, she began grocery career beginning with Vennitti’s Market followed by Valu King and ending with Giant Eagle, retiring in 1994 as also the union steward for the store.
Edie and Bob enjoyed going to church and dinner every weekend. Their fun times were: skating at Quimby park, bowling, country and western shows, going to the casinos and family vacations to Cedar Point, West Virginia and Virginia Beach. She was a card shark at 500 Rummy and a champ at checkers. Edie was known for her cooking and her love for baking. She often made cheese cakes, Easter bread and nut rolls for family and friends. Her love for food was equal to the love she had for them.
She is survived by her son Bobby Jr. (Debby), Mary Cunningham (Gary) and Gina Rice (David Lockhart). Six grandchildren: Kaytee Evans (Shaen), Bobby Rice, III (Lindsay)Kerry Kiepper (Andrew), Michael Rice (Shawna), Kelsey Hall (Zack) and Brittany Rice. She was blessed with 10 great grandchildren.
Edie was also blessed with the love of her dedicated caregivers, Theresa Hineman, Kimberly Mocella and Rebecca Johnson. We appreciate all the love and laughter they showered our Mother with! Thank you!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Bagaglia, two brothers Raymond and Frank Bagaglia, two sisters Betty Tura and Pauline Bagaglia.
Visitation will be one hour prior to 10:00am Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren on Friday, November 3, 2023. She will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery.
