Donald Rummel Croft

Donald Rummel Croft, age 91, passed away on November 27, 2022, at his home in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, the only place he called home his entire life.  Don was born at home on June 20, 1931, the second child of Frank and Celia Croft.  He graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1949 and then proudly served his country in the Marine Corp from 1949 to 1952.  After military service, Don returned home to Mineral Ridge and worked at Ohio Corrugating  Manufacturing company in Warren, Ohio before retiring.

For many years, Don made annual pilgrimages to Florida to fish Lake Okeechobee and soak in the southern sun. To say that Don was handy is an understatement. He could fix anything with an internal combustion engine.  And with his finely honed woodworking skills he could build everything from a handsome end table to an intricate and unique child’s toy. A resolute and independent man, he took pride in personally tending to all grass cutting, snow shoveling, vegetable gardening and house painting at his home until only a few months ago.  A lifelong bachelor, Don devoted himself to God, country, family, and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and by his older sister Virgina Eileen Wilkowski. He is survived by niece Kathy (David) Simko and nephews Keith (Barbara) Wilkowski and Craig (Luellen) Wilkowski and many grand nieces and nephews.  Special thanks go to Don’s dear friends, Harold “Butch” Schreckengost and his wife Terri, and to Kari Kokoski. Their loving care made it possible to grant Don his final wish, which was to end his time on this earth the same place he began it, at his home in Mineral Ridge.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home,962 North Road, NE Warren, where friends may call 1 hour prior to the services. Officiating will be Rev. Wes Cluckey. Burial Will follow in Kerr Cemetery in Weathersfield.
