Darlene Brammer Obituary

WESTMINSTER, COLO. - On Saturday, June 13, 2020 Darlene Louise (Stevens) Brammer, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully in Colorado at the age of 87.  Darlene was the firstborn child to Boyd and Pauline (Sayre) Stevens. At the age of 17, Darlene joined the Women’s Army Corp where she served in Italy and Florida.  She met the love of her life, Rex Brammer, Jr. when he held the door open for her at the USO club in Pensacola, FL.  They were married weeks later on February 9, 1955 in Jackson, MS. Their first son Ronald Rex was born in 1956, he passed at the age of 10 days due to a congenital heart defect.  Three years later they welcomed a daughter, Tamara, and in 1961 another son, Michael.

Darlene traveled the world with her husband during his military career, at times setting up home only to pack up and move six months later.  She was happiest in warm, sunny places and was most comfortable in shorts, flip flops or a bikini after having lived for years in Hawaii, and Florida.  She loved Florida and became a “Snowbird” in 1998, traveling between there and Ohio to avoid the winter snow and summer humidity until her husband of 49 years passed in 2004.  In 2015, when her health began to fail, she moved to Colorado to be near Michael and his wife Lynn.

Darlene was a devoted mother, wife, sister, and daughter, fondly remembered as the caretaker of the family, she is loved dearly and will be missed by so many.

Preceded in death by loyal, loving husband Rex, mother Pauline, father Boyd, sister Carolyn (Adams), sister Janice (Baker), and brother Holly Stevens. Darlene is survived by her daughter Tamara (Lockhart) Parks, son Michael (Lynn) Brammer, sister Patricia (Jim) Burgess, brother Lester Stevens, grandchildren Christopher (Erica) Lockhart, Matthew (Laura) Lockhart, Stacey Lockhart, great grandchildren Ella, Alli, Aiden, Beau, Hunter, and Nolan, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
