Daniel Shavers Obituary

Daniel Shavers, age 99, lifelong area resident of Braceville, entered eternal rest Sunday, January 24, 2021.

He was born April 29, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Dan J. Shavers and Lolar (Grissett) Shavers.

Daniel graduated from Newton Falls High School after graduation he participated in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). He later studied at the Virginia State University. Daniel served in the U.S. Army during World War II rising to the rank of Master Sergeant.

After being honorably discharged, he worked for the Federal Government as a government inspector at the Ravenna Arsenal and held many other Army Core of Engineer positions until he retired from the Federal Government. He worked at Wean Industrial until he became employed at Thomas Steel Strip Corporation (TSS) as a crane operator until he retired.

After he retired, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels as a driver until his 90th birthday. Daniel chose to surrender his life to Jesus Christ at a young age. He loved the Lord and was very active at the First Baptist Church-Braceville and served in many positions.

He greatly enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and all his family. He was truly the Patriarch of his family being a father, mentor, friend, brother, and uncle to many. He loved reading the Bible, singing praises to God, watching sports, carpentry work, fishing, traveling and photography.

Precious memories of Daniel will live on with his children, Terrance L. (Gwen) Shavers of Aurora, OH, Dwayne C. (Judy) Shavers of Columbus, OH, and Danielle K. Shavers-Honeywood of Woodbridge, VA.; Grandchildren: DeMetria Honeywood, Jeffery Honeywood, Rahmon (Shayla) Shavers, Dwayne D. (Antwanisha) Shavers, Derrick (Amber) Shavers, Kidron Shavers and Shayla Jackson. Great Grandchildren: Kendall, Rahman “Amari”, Cloe’, S’von, Khairi, NiShala, Malik, Cree, Sage, Cade and Shae. Brother-in-law, Raymond Molden Newton Falls, OH; Sister-in-laws Bernice Molden, Warren, OH; Jeanette Molden, Chicago, IL., Sheila Molden, Braceville, OH; Patricia Molden, Las Vegas, NV. Daniel is preceded in death by Parents, his wife of 55 years Katie Mae (Molden) Shavers, daughter in law, Shelinda C. (Provitt) Shavers, his brothers, Samuel, William “Pete”, Odell, James Shavers, sisters Inell (Shavers) Brimmer and Susibelle (Shavers) Turner; brother-in-laws Olderlee “O’lee”, Ralph, Clarence “Sonny”, John Paul, Fletcher, and Nathaniel Molden.

The Shavers Family has entrusted the care of Daniel Shavers to Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. Services will be 11:00am Saturday, January 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church-Braceville 1300 Cedar St SW, Newton Falls, OH 44444. Visiting hours are 10:00am – 11:00am at the church.   The family and funeral home will be practicing social distancing and proper health protocols. Due to the continued and increasing spread of Covid-19, the 6-foot social distancing rule will be honored, and all guests, must wear a mask and temperatures will be taken. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that all visitors exit the church (unless staying for the service) after paying their respects to the family. Please do not linger.

The Shavers family understands if you feel uncomfortable or if you are unable to attend, please keep them and Daniel in your thoughts and prayers.

Interment will follow at the Braceville Cemetery.
