Charles “Chuck” Nickolas, 65, of Warren, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Chuck was born Friday, April 29, 1955 in Warren the son of Nick and Helen Tambakis Nickolas and was one of three children.
He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and that is where he met the love of his life Mary (Pinto) Nickolas whom he would go on to marry on July 2, 1977.
Chuck was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He was also big into metal detecting. He enjoyed metal detecting with his brother Pete and together they were members of the Tri County Metal Detector Club. Chuck was also an avid and talented pool player. He belonged to several pool leagues here in Warren and in Florida; he was a member of the Valley Pool League, APA Pool League and Busch Pool League, he was also a member of the Florida APA Pool League and the Busch Pool League. Above all else, Chuck enjoyed being a grandpa.
Chuck worked for many companies as a journeyman machinist. One of his favorites was working as a machinist at Walt Disney World in Florida and New Castle School of Trades as a machinist. He absolutely loved teaching all his students. Chuck also worked for Ajax Magnethermic, General Electric, S & H Fabricating and Sharon Tube where he retired after 20 years.
He was baptized and raised in St. Demetrios Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 43 years the former Mary Pinto; his mother Helen Tambakis Nickolas of Warren; his loving children Dani (Sarah Ellis) Nickolas of Struthers and Joshua (Michelle Kilgore) Nickolas of Warren; and his grandchildren Isaiah Nickolas, Malachi Kilgore, and Sophia Nickolas. Chuck is also survived by a sister-in-law Fran Nickolas of Maryland and by his in-laws, Matthew (Nancy) Pinto of Howland and Crystal Pinto of Warren and by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Preceding Chuck in death is his father, brothers Dr. Peter Nickolas and James Nickolas; by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Dominic and Lucy Pinto; by a brother-in-law Zifferino Pinto and a sister-in-law Donna McCleary.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
An Order of Christian Burial Service, with Fr. Frantisek Katrinak, Pastor of St. John Paul II Parish in Warren, officiating, will be offered at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home Friday.
The family, and funeral home will be practicing social distancing and proper health protocols. Due to the continued and increasing spread of Covid-19, the 6-foot social distancing rule will be honored, and all guests, must wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that all visitors exit the funeral home after paying their respects to the family. Please do not linger unless staying for the Memorial Service.
