Caroline L. Charles, 91, entered peacefully into the arms of the angels on Thursday, November
3, 2022, surrounded by the love of her children. Caroline was born on February 26, 1931, the daughter of George and Eleanor (Wauschek) Artz. She was a graduate of East High School, class of 1949, and was a lifelong area resident. She worked several positions in her lifetime, but the one most suited to her socialite personality was working as a hostess at Burger King, which was where she retired. An active member of her community, Caroline enjoyed serving on the Estates Garden Club, the Hubbard Historical Society, and the American Business Women’s Association. She also loved spending time with her Tuesday night bowling league, playing cards, traveling and going on bus trips, helping her friends at the florist shop, and watching Cleveland Indians games. Anyone who knew Caroline would say that nothing gave her more enjoyment than going on shopping trips with her friends and searching for that perfect purse every chance she could
get. Her memories will be celebrated by the friends and family whom she loved dearly, including her
daughter Lynn Watson of Warren, sons Randy (Valerie) Vanaugh of Warren, David (Julie)
Charles of Girard and Timothy Charles of Girard, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1
great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard A. Vanaugh, Jr., her daughter Leslie
A. Vanaugh Galvan Hapsic, and her grandson Joseph A. Watson.
Caroline’s family is extremely grateful for all of the love, care, and compassion that she was
shown over the last few years from all of the staff who worked at Levy Gardens Assisted Living,
Heritage Manor Nursing Home, and Southern Care Hospice. Chaplain Steven Brown will be officiating services at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov, 18, 2022, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Rd NE, Warren, OH. Calling hours will be from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown, OH.
