Bruce H. Maxwell

WARREN – Bruce H. Maxwell, age 86, entered into eternal life Monday, April 5, 2021 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.  He was born September 27, 1934 in Yonkers, N.Y., the son of John and Ola Mabel (Hawkes) Maxwell and had lived in Ohio since 1994.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Bruce worked for many different telephone companies.  He also worked as a bus driver for LaBrae Schools and did side jobs as a locksmith.  He enjoyed family, woodworking, reading books about King Tut and Ancient Egypt, and was a huge Navy fan, making the trip to the annual Army-Navy football game one year.

He is sadly missed by his daughter Marilyn “Max” Sweeny (Paul) of Howland; his son, Mark Maxwell (Tricia) of Warren; five grandchildren: Kai Gagnon (Steve), Lisa Floyd (Jason), Larkin Sweeny (Lisa), Kristina Johnson (Alex), and Joshua Maxwell; six great-grandchildren: Michael Hillman (Analee), Scotty Hillman USMC, Cameron Hillman, Trevor Gagnon, Taylor Hillman, and Spencer Gagnon; two sisters-in-law, Donna Maxwell of Leonia, N.J. and Linda Maxwell of Palm Coast, Fla; one brother-in-law, Richard Way (Maureen) of Fishkill, N.Y; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Ola Maxwell; his beloved wife of nearly sixty-five years,
Marilyn L. (Way) Maxwell, whom he married January 1, 1956 and who passed November 12, 2020; one sister, Joyce Barefoot; and four brothers: Harold, Jack, Richard, and Donald Maxwell.

Services are 3:00 pm Friday, April 9, 2021 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with Fr. Jeffrey Baker officiating.  Friends may call 2:00 to 3:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.  Full military honors will be conferred.  Masks are required, and social distancing practices will be observed.

His urn will be laid to rest at 11:00 am Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Howland Township Cemetery.
