Betty J (Browning) Wagner

Betty J. Wagner, 91, of Cortland and formerly of Leavittsburg, entered peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. at Ohio Living Lake Vista in Cortland.

She was born on Tuesday, March 26, 1929 in Warren the daughter of the late Harold and Elsie Lewis Browning and was a lifelong area resident.

For 21 years, Betty was a cook at Western Reserve High School in Warren. 

Betty was a member of the former Christ Our King Catholic Church and the former St. Pius X Catholic Church in Warren.  She currently was a member with her husband of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren.

Betty enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband, golfing and playing cards.  She was an excellent cook and sang with Sweet Sues in Florida.

Betty is survived by her husband of 72 years, Kenneth R. Wagner whom she married on January 8, 1949; her children Kathleen Joy of Warren, Kenneth (Sharyn) Wagner of Fowler, Bonnie Dean of Braceville, Sue Ellen (Brian) Smith of Florida and Mary Beth (Roger) Toumazos of Ottawa, Ohio; by eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a brother Jack Browning.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Frantisek Katrinak officiating, will be offered on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the church.  Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Betty’s name to the Restoration Fund of St. Mary’s Church, 232 Seneca St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44482.
