CUYAHOGA FALLS – Bertha “Bertie” J. Angelo, age 84, formerly of Warren, entered into the loving arms of her Savior Thursday, April 8, 2021 at her home. She was born June 30, 1936 in Warren, the daughter of Taylor and Margaret (Snyder) Gunsallus.
Bertie was the consummate homemaker and caretaker. She loved her family, and her cooking and meals were legendary. Over two-thirds of the recipes in her church’s cookbook were hers, and the members referred to it as “Bertie’s Cookbook.” She belonged to Lighthouse Assembly of God in Cuyahoga Falls, and was a very kind-hearted and simple woman, always giving and sharing.
Precious memories of Bertie live on with her beloved husband of nearly sixty-seven years, James J. Angelo, whom she married July 31, 1954; three sons: James J. Angelo, Jr. (Mary) of Cary, N.C., John Angelo (Brenda) of Jackson Township, and Jerry Angelo of Cuyahoga Falls; one daughter, Pam Sanzone (David) of Tallmadge; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Taylor and Margaret Gunsallus; three sisters: Agnes Shimko, Valerie Kramer, and Ruth Cummings; and one brother, James Grant.
Per her request, services are private. Cremation is taking place.
