Bernice N. Core, 90, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 5:05 p.m. in the coronary care unit at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 11, 1931, in Warren the daughter of the late Cornelius and Elizabeth Pringle Brogdon and was a lifelong area resident.
Bernice was a 1949 graduate of Leavittsburg High School.
She was employed with GE Ohio Lamp on Dana Street in Warren as a machine operator retiring in 1996. She stayed home to help take care of her grandchildren and then retired to the workforce at Devon Elementary School in Warren as a noon aide retiring in 2001.
Bernice had a strong faith in God and answered his call in many talented ways. She was a faithful member of Barnes Temple Church of God in Christ; was past president of YPWW; past president and director of the church choir, past president of the Sunshine Band; Past President and Past State Jurisdiction President of YWCC; Past volunteer and support of Barnes Temple Food Coalition and Past Youth Program Director of the church. She was also past member of the Raiders Boosters and past member of NAACP
She was married in 1950 to George W. Core, Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1979.
Memories of Bernice will forever be remembered by her loving family, daughters Cynthia L. Fulton of Warren; Kathleen D. Edwards of San Diego; and Janet M. (Anthony) Jarrett of Warren; her two sisters Annabelle Brogdon of Warren and Maxine (Archie) McMillion of Warren; her grandchildren Dorian Baugh, Robert Fulton, Givonne Fulton, Christopher Core, K’Omni Core-Edwards, Kandace Sparks, Kayla Sparks, and Korey Jarrett; and by great grandchildren D’Armoni Battee, Katorya Washington, Laundon Brown, Kyree Fulton, Kennedy Fulton, Kali Fulton, Saraiya Tucker, Kendrick Core Edwards, and Cross Core.
Besides her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by two sons George W. Core, Jr., and Rodney A. Core; grandson Desmond Baugh; great grandchildren Isaiah Sparks Bays and Ky’Loni Core Edwards; and by four sisters Lucille Morgan, Rovenia Bryant, Mary Dukes, and Sarah Brogdon; and by two brothers Clevelen Brogdon and Benjamin Brogdon.
Family will receive friends on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. in Restoration Christian Fellowship Church 760 Main Ave SW, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A Funeral Service will take place at 12 Noon in the church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
