Audrey Schinkel

Warren – Audrey Schinkel, 89, passed away on May 10, 2023, at Heather Knoll in Tallmadge, Ohio. She was born on July 10, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Edward and Bertha Hudak Ricketts.

Audrey was a 1951 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD. She attended American University in Washington DC and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music (piano) in 1955 and a master’s degree in education and psychology in 1959. That same year, she became an instructor of piano and music theory at Concordia College in River Forest, IL. While raising her family she continued to as social worker for Trumbull County Childrens Services, where she retired after 25 years of service.

Audrey continued to share her talent & passion for piano performance throughout her life. She appeared in numerous local productions at Trumbull New Theatre, Packard Music Hall, and other venues. Church was always an important part of her life, and she began playing for services even as a teenager. She was a member at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Warren for over 47 years, where her husband was Pastor. As organist there, she continued to share her musical talents with her church family. She deeply loved her family, her church, and those she helped through her many years of service to others. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind a son, David Schinkel (Gretchen), daughters, Sara Lytle (Richard), and Ruth Gebele (Niles); brother, Edward Ricketts; and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Robert, Emma, Mila, Madi, Logan, Lea, Alaina, Hayley and Tara.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Pastor Norman Schinkel whom she married on July 10, 1960.

Calling hours will take place from 10:00 am to 12 noon on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2742 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon following calling hours at the church.
