Almeda V. Stewart

WARREN – Almeda V. Stewart, age 70, lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 3, 2023 at Gillette Nursing Home.  She was born May 23, 1953 in Warren, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Bailey) Gardner.

A graduate of Champion High School, Almeda worked as a bus aide for TCAP/Head Start before retiring. She loved to sit in the garage and watch her husband Richard work on cars, go to garage sales with her sister, and read books. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family.

Fond memories of Almeda live on with her husband, Richard R. Stewart II; five stepchildren: Richard R. Stewart III (Mary) of Warren, Pam Stewart of Warren, Heather Hilbert (Steve) of Windham, Daniel Stewart (Christina) of Warren, and Mandy Stewart of Warren; fifteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothy Sprankle, Cynthia Gardner (Gary), and Martha Cumberledge (Ed), all of Warren; one brother, Fred Gardner (Nadine) of Warren, her sister-in-law, Linda Gardner of Warren ; her brother-in-law, Gary Stewart of Warren; her brother-in-law, Mark (Juana) Stewart of Warren,; and several nieces, nephews, and their families.

Preceding her in death are her parents, six sisters, and four brothers.

According to her wishes, cremation is taking place.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
