Adrian D. “Nino” Vintila, 72, of Cortland, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 1:53 p.m. in his home.
He was born Wednesday, September 15, 1948, in Warren the son of the late Rev. Traian and Anna Vlad Vintila.
Nino was a graduate of St. Charles High School in Detroit and later attended Youngstown State University after returning from the service.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Nino was a clerk in the jag office abroad the USS Midway.
He worked in law enforcement at the Youngstown Air Force Base before retiring in 2009.
Nino was of the Romanian Orthodox faith.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, was a member of Free and Accepted Mason Lodge 529 of Cortland and was a member of the Archery Club.
Nino enjoyed scuba diving and was a master diver, enjoyed archery and enjoyed watching and playing golf. He rooted for the Cleveland Indians and Browns as well as the Detroit Lions.
He is survived by his sister Dorina “Nina” Vintila of Warren; a sister Sylvia Rupe of Birmingham, Alabama and by two brothers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Cortland Police and Cortland Fire for all their help on the day that Adrian fell asleep in the Lord.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service with The V. Rev. Protopresbyter Kenneth J. Bachofsky, DMin., Pastor of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Warren officiating, will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna next to his parents.
