Michael Ritter Obituary

Michael Steven Ritter, 60

STRUTHERS – Michael Steven Ritter, 60, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, March 14, 2019.
Michael was born May 8, 1958, in Youngstown, to Paul Stewart and Agnes (Delach) Ritter.

He grew up in Struthers and graduated from Struthers High School in 1977.

After graduation Michael worked with the Struthers Street Department in the summer. He also worked with several cleaning companies including T.J. Maxx. After getting his license at 18 he enjoyed his freedom by hitting the highway and going to his favorite stores and just sightseeing around town.

Michael spent a lot of his time attending his nieces and nephews baseball, football and basketball games. He loved to watch them play and do their cheerleading, although he was not a big sports guy he loved making memories with his favorite young people.

He loved photography and his camera always traveled with him. Another one of his favorite past times was to buy day old bread and feed the geese behind Wal-Mart. It was a sacred place for him and spent many hours getting the geese to trust him enough to eat out of his hands and pat them on the head. He had a great love and respect for animals. A couple years ago his nephew, brought him two tiny kittens and Michael fell in love with them and the feelings were mutual. Luca and Lucy were always by his side.

Michael will be greatly missed by his sister, Patty Ritter Thompson; and his brothers, John, Timothy (Kathy) and James. He also leaves behind his nephews, Jimmy Ritter, with whom he had a special relationship, Joey Ritter, Timothy (Angela) Ritter, Paul Ritter and Rod (Patty) Ritter; nieces Julie Ritter, Kara Ritter and Sharon Ritter; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad who passed in 2004, his mom in 2007, and a brother, Paul, in 2011.
“Our family would like to thank Michelle Law Clark for the last 14 months she dedicated to Michael’s care. She went above and beyond the call of duty. She provided him with excellent care, attended to his needs and was always able to put a smile on his face and share a laugh. Michael loved and trusted her very much.”

Michael wished to not have a service but if you would like to honor his memory, he asked that donations be made to Angels for Animals.
