William R. Carnahan, Sr., 76, of Niles and formerly of Warren, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born May 28, 1942 in Warren, the son of William and Martha (Richards) Carnahan, and had lived in the area all his life.
A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Bill retired in 1995 from the Warren Police Department after 29 years of service, working his way from patrolman to homicide detective. He then worked security for Warren City Schools until his retirement in 2010. An avid golfer, he played in the DeJacimo Traveling League, and played in the Warren City Baseball League as a younger man. He also enjoyed traveling to casinos. He was truly loved by his students and athletes, and took the time to follow their careers.
Fond memories of Bill live on with his two daughters, Kimberly Carnahan of Girard and Lori (Don) Mikulich of Liberty; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Quinlan of Niles and Deborah McKee of Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Preceding him in death are his parents; a son, William R. Carnahan, Jr.; and a sister, Margaret Prince.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with Rev. Erica Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 7:00 to 9:00 pm Monday and 10:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home.
