Robert Austin Green Sr.

Robert Austin Green Sr., 83, of Warren died Friday evening September 21, 2018 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles. He was born June 28, 1935 in Champion, Ohio a son of Sherill Austin and Olive Dorothea (Whitehouse) Green and had been a lifelong area resident.

Robert was a 1953 graduate of Howland High School where he had excelled in basketball. He held the record for most points scored in a game and was inducted into the Howland Hall of Fame. Following high school, he had attended Mount Union College. He had also been active in SCOPE in Warren for many years.

Robert worked as a production operator for American Welding, where he had also was active in union affairs. After the plant closing, he worked to secure pensions for company employees. Robert also proudly served his country in the Army.

His wife, Beverly Koski Green is deceased.

He leaves a son, Robert Austin Green Jr. of Champion; a daughter, Beckey Ann (Tim) Hanck of Warren; his step-children, Phillip (Jill) Pegg of Vienna, Jeffrey (Nicole) Pegg of Howland, and Bonnie Pegg of Columbus; a sister, Shirley (Clem) Orr who resides in Florida; a half-sister, Barbara (David) Delgarbino; five grandchildren, Laura, Hillary, Heather, Mason, and Mia, and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee.

Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter who died in 1971

A private service for the family will be held on Wednesday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Vienna. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday September 25, 2018 at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren.
