Robert J. Ellis

Robert J. Ellis, 60, of Cortland, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born November 30, 1957 in Warren, the son of Robert “Tiny” and Jean (Williamson) Ellis, and had lived in the area all his life.

A graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School, Bob worked as a manager for PMC.  A man who loved the outdoors, he belonged to the Cortland Conservation Club and enjoyed fishing, the Browns, the Buckeyes, and all sports. A member of Seeking God’s Glory Church, he was the founder of the church’s outreach soup ministry, as he loved to cook and had a big heart for the hurting and the lost.

Fond memories of Bob live on with his loving wife of 33 years, Holly (Helmbrecht) Ellis, whom he married August 31, 1985; two children, Sara (Doug) O’Rourke of Centerville, Va. and David (Rochelle Thomas) Ellis of Warren; four grandchildren: Taelyn, Logan, Dakota, and Riley; two sisters, Rebecca (Pete) Sotus of Boardman and Lorraine (Joe) Costarella of Girard; a brother, Brian (Avie) Ellis of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Preceding him in death are his mother, Jean Ellis, and his father and stepmother, Robert and Mary (Creech) Ellis.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 5:00 pm Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Seeking God's Glory Church, 3217 Surrey Road S.E., Warren, Ohio 44484, with Pastors Jason Allen and Brian Vandergrift officiating.  Material contributions may be made to the Soup Ministry of Seeking God's Glory Church.
