Robert A. Chester, 85, of Warren, passed away peacefully Monday, September 17, 2018 at home. He was born August 13, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of Guy A. and Irene (Cass) Chester, and had lived in Ohio since 1960.
A Korean War-era veteran of the U.S. Army, Bob graduated from the Indiana Institute of Technology and worked as a mechanical engineer. He had a passion for travel, and he thrived on new experiences. A member of Howland United Methodist Church and Canfield AARP, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, repairing things, live theater, and volunteering at the local missions in Youngstown and Tucson.
Fond memories of Bob live on with his loving wife, Patricia Hanko Kirin Chester, whom he married February 14, 2003; a son, Dan Chester of Columbus; two stepsons, Jeffrey (Qingyun Yu) Kirin of Howland, Rick (Cindy) Kirin of Tucson, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Jodi Kirin (Nancy Nanes) of Lake Milton and Diane (Tim) Erro of Tucson; and five grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his first wife, Sandra Coffey Chester; a daughter, Jennifer Chester; and a brother, Kenneth Chester.
Services are 11:00 am Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Howland United Methodist Church, with Rev. Matt Darrin officiating. Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday at the church.
