Richard Edward Rice, 83 of Vienna passed away Monday evening November 7, 2017 in Laughlin, Nevada while vacationing.

Richard was born November 30, 1933 in Mantua, Ohio a son of George and Marion (Lorenz) Rice and had been a lifelong area resident.

He was a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service retiring after thirty years, and was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rural Letter Carrier’s Association. Among his interests, Richard was an avid bowler, he enjoyed reading, and following the Cleveland sports teams. With his wife, he enjoyed traveling the United States in their R.V.

His wife, the former Bernice Stowell, whom he married June 10, 1957 died March 8, 2016.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Norma Martin of Bazetta Township; two sons, Roger Rice, also of Bazetta, and Richard  Rice, with whom he made his home; a brother, David Rice in Gustavus, Ohio;  a sister, Cynthia Yaney of Hemet, California; three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Holmes; his grandson, Craig Sopkovich and two sisters.

Per his request, cremation is taking place.  There are no services or calling hours.
