Matthew P. Spanish, 76, of Newton Falls, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at University Hospital Geauga Regional Medical Center.
Matthew was born on June 26, 1942 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the son of the late Joseph Spanish and Katherine “Tina” Sorto Spanish. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School and retired from Packard Electric in Warren where he was a Die Setter & Tow Motor Operator for over 35 years. Matthew was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, construction projects, general tinkering, and shopping.
Fond memories of Matt will be cherished by his daughter Danielle R. Halfast of Champion; two sons Nicholas M. Spanish of Arizona and Joseph M. Spanish of California; a brother Daniel (Brenda) Spanish of Kentucky; three grandchildren Brandon, Cory and Jennifer Halfast and four great grandchildren Haylee, Baylee, Khloee and Aubree.
Besides his parents, Matthew was preceded in death by his twin brother, Joseph P. Spanish.
In keeping with Matthew’s wishes, there will be no calling hours for funeral service and a caring cremation will take place. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will take place at a future date.
