1932-2017

HOWLAND – Margaret “Peggy” J. George, 84, passed away at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born Oct. 7, 1932, in Donora, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Linza Campa.

Peggy graduated from Donora High School. She worked as a secretary at Bahmer’s Howland Pharmacy, retiring in 2006.

She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren and was of the Catholic faith.

Peggy enjoyed traveling, cooking and her family.

She will be missed by her children, Rosemary (James) Pompoco of Howland, Chrissy (Mike) Madgar of Howland, with whom she made her home, and John J. (Sheri) George of Howland; brother, Ronald (Vera) Campa of Howland; sister, Elizabeth Campa of Florida; sister-in-law, Marty Campa; grandchildren, Elizabeth Maguire, Angela (Dr. Bryan) Hooks, Freddie Efler, Michael (Alisa Manna) Madgar and Matthew (fiancée Lindsey Harrison) Madgar, and Jesse and Joshua George; and three great-grandchildren, Brendan, Blake and Brody Hooks.

Besides her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, John S. George, whom she married July 11, 1953, and who passed away March 3, 1994; one brother, Joseph Campa; and one sister, Virginia Saxon.

A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, OH 44483, where family will receive friends 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in memory of Margaret George to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Road, Poland, OH 44514.
