Joseph Makosky, Sr. Obituary

Champion, Ohio- Mr. Joseph S. Makosky Sr. – Architect, 57, On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, Joseph joined Christ in his heavenly home surrounded by love.

Joseph was born on August 20, 1960, to his late beloved parents John and Rose Makosky.

He graduated with honors from John F. Kennedy High School in Warren, Ohio in 1978

In 1986 he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Kent State University.

Joseph fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Judith Ann (Peterson) Makosky and they married on 1981.

He is survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl and Joann Peterson. His five children: Teresa (Erik) Hartman, Angela (Richard) Roth, Sara (James) Stevens, Joseph S. Makosky Jr. and Jacquelynn (Steven) Brown; 1 beloved granddaughter Adalena Hartman. Along with is siblings; Victoria (Vince) Pavis, Roseann (Simon) Graj, Christine (Brian) McCue, Julie Britt and John (Amy) Makosky; brother-in-law Carl (Marcia) Peterson, sister-in-law Susan McCurry and brother-in-law Daniel (Terri) Peterson.

God Blessed him with many talents at a young age. He expressed himself with drawing, painting, and music. As a child he wanted to be an artist; later he would become an architect. Joseph was a pillar of faith and love for his children. He taught them many lessons, as his parents did for him. A few that resonated with him the most were, "I'll teach you everything I know and you still won't know much". Implying you can never stop learning. "You are allowed to be mad, but only be mad for 10 minutes." We knew this meant to have forgiveness in our hearts. Keeping family as the cornerstone of his life was his main goal. Joe was a beacon of hope and encouragement to his family and community. Showing everyone how gracious God's love truly is.

He will be remembered as a determined entrepreneur and a passionate servant of Christ. He loved his wife with every ounce of his being and showed this love daily. Joe was blessed with countless miracles, primarily his loving family. When the going got rough his mantra stood strong: "I'm on God's time, not my time."

Out of college, he joined the architectural team at Hunter, Howard, Saxon, and Associates and later became a partner there. This firm later merged with Ricciuti Balog & Partners Architects of Youngstown. He had multiple mentors that were the catalyst to his success. Though entrepreneurialism was at his core, he was extremely proud to be his own boss of JSMsr Architect.

He was a member of the Builders Association, a registered member of American Institute of Architecture. He was once the president of the Warren area Jaycee's and he was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 7491 which he helped to charter in 1980. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight of the Bishop McFadden Assembly 819. He had many achievements over the years but the fondest of these was when he received the Knights of Columbus family of the year award.

The love he exuded was embedded in him through the love of his parents who he missed desperately. He is now at peace with his parents and the Lord Jesus Christ his Savior.

"Without Him, I would be nothing. I owe everything to Him. He is my savior." – Joseph S. Makosky Sr.
